Lip Blush is a modern PMU procedure that enhances the lips with a soft wash of color using advanced machine techniques. This treatment adds definition, corrects tone, and creates the look of naturally tinted or softly stained lips. The resulting lip color can be bold and sharp, or soft and blurred. Ombré shading can be used to add multiple colors to create a more unique look.
We additionally offer Lip Color Neutralization, which is a specialized form of Lip Blush that is focused on evening out the lip color, fixing hyperpigmentation or a dull lip color. Once the lips have been successfully neutralized, a Lip Blush color can be layered on top for a beautifully enhanced, color corrected result.
We additionally offer different types of corrections, including Lip Line Definition, Asymmetry, Lip Scar Camouflage, and Cleft Lip Correction.

Is Lip Blush a tattoo?
Yes, Lip Blush and all permanent makeup (PMU) procedures are considered to be cosmetic tattoos.
What’s the difference between Lip Blush and Lip Color Neutralization?
Lip Blush is used to introduce a cosmetic color based on the client’s natural skin color and style preferences. Lip Blush styles can range from sheer, semi-sheer, or bold. Lip Color Neutralization is used to camouflage hyperpigmentation by using color correction principles and full saturation tattoo methods.
Should I get Lip Blush or Lip Color Neutralization (or both)?
If you would like to correct areas of hyperpigmentation, we recommend scheduling a Lip Color Neutralization appointment first. Lip Blush is intended to add the client’s desired cosmetic color, and it does not incorporate color correction. Lip Color Neutralization is utilized to camouflage areas of hyperpigmentation and discoloration, and the target color is close to a natural flesh tone.
A single client can undergo both Lip Color Neutralization and Lip Blush, typically completed over the course of two sessions. Color correction can be done in the initial session, and the client’s desired cosmetic color can be added in the following session.
Can Lip Blush enhance the lip size? Can it replace lip fillers?
No. Lip Blush is a cosmetic tattoo that can give the illusion of a larger lip size by enhancing the shape of the lips, improving symmetry, and adding color to areas that are lacking in natural pigment. However, this procedure cannot physically increase the size or volume of the lips.
Should I get Lip Blush before or after lip fillers?
We recommend getting Lip Blush done after fillers. Please consult your injector for the exact timeline of when your fillers will fully settle, and schedule your Lip Blush procedure afterward.
I have oily skin. Can I get Lip Blush?
Yes. The skin on the lips do not have pores and oil glands, and are incapable of moisture secretion. Because of this, the challenges of tattooing oily and combination skin do not apply to Lip Blush.
What are the risks of getting Lip Blush?
Lip Blush is a tattoo procedure with a low risk of skin infection. We minimize all risks associated with tattooing by investing in advanced technology and learning the best modern PMU techniques for skin safety. Follow your aftercare instructions to further minimize any risks of infection.
Some pain and mild discomfort is expected during this procedure. Swelling may occur, however it is minimized with the use of RealTint® machines.
Will Lip Blush give me cold sores?
No, cold sores are symptoms of the HSV-1 virus. This virus is asymptomatic in the majority of the affected population. However, Lip Blush can potentially trigger an outbreak in individuals who carry the dormant virus. For this reason, we recommend that all Lip Blush clients begin a round of antivirals, with the assistance of their physician, a few days before their procedure.
Do I have to get a 4-6 week touch up?
Not usually. Thanks to the advanced technology of our RealTint® machines, most PMU Eyeliner and Lip Blush clients at Hyper Real Academy do not require (and are not advised to schedule) a 4–6 week touch-up.
We may recommend an additional session for some Lip Color Neutralization clients.
How long is the healing process?
Lip Blush fully heals in 6-8 weeks.
What are the aftercare instructions for Lip Blush?
Avoid spicy foods for the first few days following your procedure to reduce the chances of swelling and irritation. Avoid swimming in the pool or ocean for a month; the chemicals in the water (salt/chlorine) will slow the healing process. We recommend using antimicrobial foam for the first week of healing, avoiding bar soaps and any exfoliating products. Use a recovery serum to protect the skin’s moisture barrier and lock in pigment during the healing process. Click here for our full aftercare instructions.
How long does Lip Blush last?
Lip Blush is expected to last for over 2 years before a further touch up is recommended.
Do I have to get my Lip Blush touched up after 2 years?
No. Clients are encouraged to only book a touch up procedure after the tattoo has faded by 30%. If you are unsure about scheduling a touch up appointment, email or DM us a photo of your current Lip Blush, and we’ll let you know the best way to proceed.
