Lip Blush is a sophisticated modern lip PMU technique known for its soft color enhancement and beautifully polished finish. This machine technique creates the appearance of healthier, more balanced lips by layering pigment in a smooth veil of color that can range from sheer and delicate to more vibrant and defined.
Lip Blush delivers a refined result that flatters lips with uneven color, loss of definition, or a naturally pale appearance.

Hyper Real Academy was founded by Anna Sun, a former master surgeon and cosmetic tattoo artist with more than 28 years of experience in the tattoo industry.

Kelly
Kelly Bu is a PMU instructor with six years of industry experience and a background in professional editorial makeup artistry, with work featured in major magazines. Her command of both male and female makeup techniques made her a sought after artist for fashion, television, and film throughout her makeup career.
Her foundation in makeup artistry is a defining part of her success in permanent makeup, giving her the eye, restraint, and design sensibility that elevate a good tattoo artist into a true PMU master. Through her connections across the beauty industry, she has built partnerships with prestige brands that give PMU trainees greater access to professional products at better prices than ever before.

KahMung Chua (CK) has 6 years of PMU experience. She has been with us at Hyper Real Academy® since 2021. She mastered her craft under the guidance of Anna, and is now ready to mentor the next generation of PMU talent.
CK is a Platinum-certified AAM trainer (2026).

YOUR Curriculum
FAQ's
Can I get a headshot in addition to my professional model photos?
Yes! This is one of our most common requests. Since we already provide professional photography for our students’ portfolios, we are now offering content creation for our students who wish to be photographed during their model sessions. Students who wish to have their photos taken must sign a photo release.
Will I tattoo a real person during this program?
Yes, but you will not be alone! Your instructor will supervise your procedure and step in to correct improper form.
Do I need to take a test before I can work with a model?
You are required to submit your silicone sheet to your instructor to demonstrate machine proficiency. If you are not eligible to move forward, don’t worry. We will work with you to correct your machine technique and you will be asked to submit another silicone sheet.
What if I can’t find a model?
Please give us a 2 week notice so that we can find a model for you. There is no cost to you, but we cannot guarantee a model per student. In the event that there are not enough models available, two students will share a model.
My model already has PMU, can they still participate?
It depends on the shape and whether the tattoo is light enough to work on. We determine eligibility on a case-by-case basis. Please send us a photo of the tattoo at least 2 weeks before the first day of your program.
What Lip Blush styles will I learn?
This program includes our Core Lip Blush technique. You will learn how to apply buildable color to create medium to bold Lip Blush results. You will learn how to create soft-edge and clean-edge Lip Blush designs.
What techniques will I learn?
You will learn the following Core Lip Blush techniques:
- Pendulum and Whip Shading
- Auto-Pointillism
Will I learn how to neutralize lip color in this program?
We will not cover the advanced techniques needed for Lip Color Neutralization. However, we will teach you how to pair colors that will be necessary for Lip Color Neutralization. If you would like to learn Lip Color Neutralization, let us know and we will create an extended program that covers color correction and full saturation tattoo techniques with discounted pricing.
