How does SMP work?
During this consultation, the client's hair loss pattern, skin tone, and desired results are discussed. The RealTint® SMP artist then customizes the pigments to match the client's natural hair color and skin tone. This customization is crucial to achieving a realistic and natural-looking result.
Using our custom RealTint® PULSE machine, the artist deposits the pigments into the upper layer of the scalp, creating tiny, round dots that mimic the appearance of hair follicles. The density and distribution of these tattooed dots are carefully controlled to replicate the natural hair pattern.
SMP is often applied in multiple sessions to allow for proper layering and blending, creating a three-dimensional effect. The gradual buildup of pigment ensures a natural look that closely resembles the appearance of real hair.
Will SMP Work for You?
SMP is not a replacement for hair transplant surgery. The scalp micropigmentation process is that of tattooing to imitate hair follicles. Each tattoo remains flush against the scalp, creating the illusion of hair volume. SMP is ideal for clients that want to hide areas of hair loss, camouflage scarring, and/or create an illusion of a buzzcut for the entire scalp. SMP will not work for clients that are looking for more than the illusion of added hair follicles.
How much does SMP cost?
RealTint® SMP is made easier, safer, and more time-efficient thanks to technological advancements such as the RealTint® PULSE SMP machine. For that reason, expect RealTint® SMP treatments to cost less than competitors while maintaining superior results.
RealTint® SMP is priced per session. A small area will cost between $300-$600. A small area is approximately the size of a business card. A medium area will cost $600-$800. A large area will cost $800 and up.
How many sessions do I need?
It is recommended to schedule 2-3 sessions for small to medium areas. For large areas and full hairline restoration treatments, it is recommended to schedule 3-5 sessions.
