What Is a PMU Model?
Models play an essential role in training the next generation of elite permanent makeup artists. At Hyper Real Academy, there are two types of models:
Student Models
Student Work before/after
Your procedure is performed by a carefully trained student under the direct supervision of an AAM Platinum-certified instructor. Every student must complete guided machine training on synthetic skin and pass a hands-on practical exam before working with real clients. Trainers are present at all times to monitor, guide, and step in when needed to ensure every model gets the same high-quality results that our clinic is known for.
Live Demo Models
In a live demonstration, the procedure is performed by a certified trainer while students observe. These models receive direct treatment from the trainer with additional time built in for live teaching moments. Otherwise, the experience is identical to a typical studio service.
What to Expect
- Longer appointment times to allow students to ask questions
- Photo release required for all models (for educational and promotional use)
- Discounted or free procedures
- Professional results with strict supervision
- Discounted touch-ups (recommended for Brows, optional for Permanent Eyeliner and Lip Blush)
- Encouragement to send healed photos to help students build their portfolios

Important Guidelines
- You must sign a photo release form
- Please schedule a free consultation virtually or in-person if you have previous PMU work (by us or another clinic) so we can determine your eligibility as a student model or live demo model.
- A student may ask for a deposit to avoid no-show’s. This deposit will be refunded when you check in for your procedure.
- Procedures are completed using modern machine techniques only—we do not offer microblading for very good reasons.
